Tourist Guide Holguín
Holguin, also called ‘The City of Parks’, is the capital of the province with the same name. Located in eastern Cuba in Central America, Holguin is the fourth largest city in the country. The city has a total population of around 1, 50,000 inhabitants.
The city is characterised by a mild tropical climate. The trade winds blow almost all year round, making the climate wonderfully pleasant. December and January are the best months to visit.
Holguin is an ancient city with an eventful history. Found in the early sixteenth century, the city has witnessed a great deal of fighting during the Wars of Independence. It has a predominant Hispanic influence and has various monuments paying tribute to its war heroes.
In Holguin, the economy is sustained primarily through fishing and agriculture.
