The marshy lowlands of Peninsula de Zapata are located in the southern Matanzas province. Situated in western Cuba, it is a remote, sparsely inhabited region as most of the area is not fit for human inhabitation. The scarcity of human civilization in the vicinity has allowed one of the most important ecosystems in Cuba to flourish unperturbed.
Peninsula de Zapata has a mild tropical climate moderated by trade winds.
The Bay of Pigs in the Zapata Peninsula is a place filled with history and this is where the first defeat of American Imperialism took place.
The area exhibits a distinguished and varied landscape. It has a huge array of exotic species of well preserved flora and fauna. The area has splendid tourist infrastructure, designed to cater for all comforts.
