In Willemstad, Zanta and Mambo beaches are popular among tourists and locals, albeit West Point, famous for its calm waters and natural surroundings, is ideal for a quiet swim. Swim with dolphins, large fish, sea turtles and even sharks. The Curacao Sea Aquarium offers myriad opportunities to its visitors.
Willemstad also hosts several festivals and events. The Curacao Salsa Tour, at the end of July or beginning of August, is a week long event featuring performing artists and workshops.
The annual Easter Monday Parade commemorates the music and dance of the original settlers of Willemstad. Karnaval, an eight week festival, is held at the beginning of every year. Willemstad also observes a Tourism Week in September each year.
