Dominican cuisine is dominated by elements of different cultures. Vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian food is available quite easily at almost all food joints and roadside stalls.
Coconut water and fruit juices are the most commonly and cheaply available drinks in the country. Sorrel, juice taken out of a species of hibiscus flower, is a local speciality and is worth trying. Kubuli, a popular drink, is the locally prepared beer.
