Marigot is one of the few places in the Caribbean where you can observe the traditional lifestyle of the Caribs. An area of land was set aside here for the Caribs in 1903 and the quaint little Carib huts are a major attraction for tourists.
Tourists can also shop for traditional Carib crafts such as cane baskets. They can even see canoes being made using traditional methods. Other activities include sailing, fishing, diving, wind surfing, snorkelling and swimming.
History buffs should visit the Habitation Chabert, which is a museum of French and Creole furniture, artefacts, weapons and maps. This quaint museum is located inside a restored nineteenth century lime and sugar factory.
