Casa de campo: Attractions and more...
Casa de Campo is one of the best-appointed tourist resorts in the world, with
a myriad of activities that can be enjoyed by the visitor. There are sports
facilities for basketball and tennis, opportunities for horse riding, poolside
bars for relaxing with a drink, and a range of products to be found in the shops
of the marina village.
At Altos de Chavón, visitors can enjoy the cobblestone paths and terra
cotta buildings, reminiscent of a 16th century Italian village. The village
is crammed with artists’ workshops, galleries, and mouth-watering restaurants.
There is also a 5000-seat amphitheatre, inaugurated in 1982, where shows can
be enjoyed year-round. For an insight into earlier inhabitants of this area,
visit the Regional Museum of Archaeology.
Trips to the uninhabited Catalina Island are offered from both Casa de Campo
and the nearby La Romana. Catalina Island’s transparent waters are perfect
for snorkelling, while its yellow sand beaches are perfect for soaking in the
tropical sun.
