Mosquito repellant has to be a priority in your Guatemala City packing list as there are a lot of mosquitoes that could be carriers of Dengue Fever.
The ruins of the Mayan Era are still visible and a trek has to be taken into the jungle to view these ruins, so, a good pair of walking shoes would be useful for walks on uneven terrain.
It is also advisable to carry an umbrella as rain can be quite unpredictable.
Early mornings can be a bit chilly so a jacket is required if you plan to watch the sunrise or do any activity early in the morning.
Shorts are not allowed in Mayan churches for men or women so bring some full length trousers if you plan to visiting any churches. Ladies need to wear modest clothing as the culture is more conservative than western culture.
In this beautiful country a Camera is a must. Carry some extra films or memory as they are expensive in Guatemala.
