Tourist Guide Tikal National Park
Tikal National Park is placed on the northern side of Guatemala, linking the two municipalities of Flores and San José, Petén.
It came into being in the year 1955; it has gained popularity as a tourist destination.
The park has many archaeological sites, low and high land forests as well as a complex habitat of wetlands, which are all well maintained. This is one of the few places which have received a complete support from the government for conservation.
It has been declared as a park is one of few UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.
