Haiti’s economy is not in a very good state with 80% of its population living below the poverty line. Majority of the population is dependent on the agriculture sector, mainly practising subsistence farming. It also suffers from the problem of mass unemployment.

The average daily expenses for a tourist visiting the country will be anywhere $45 and $100. There are numerous guest houses that charge up to $40 which normally includes the cost of two meals as well.
