The port city of La Ceiba is located on the northern coast of Honduras in the department of Atlántida.
The topography of the area is varied and beautiful with sandy beaches, lush forests and mountains. The climate is tropical with temperatures ranging from 20° C to 27°C round the year. Rainfall occurs during the months of May through October.
La Ceiba has a population of 250,000 people. Most of the populace are Mestizos, a mixture of Spanish and American Indian races. There are also some Europeans, Afro-Hondurans and some descendants of the indigenous Amerindians.
The city has a unique blend of Ladino, Caribbean, and Garifuna cultures. This unique and vibrant cultural mix gives the city a very party-like atmosphere. It manifests itself in the vibrant music, colourful art and delicious cuisine of the city.
