Major money-making sectors in Jamaica include agriculture, mining, manufacturing and tourism industries as well as financial and insurance services. The island exports alumina, bauxite, sugar, fruit, rum, coffee, yams, beverages, chemicals, apparel and mineral fuels, and imports food, industrial supplies, fuel and construction materials. The average cost of living is comparatively high in Jamaica; an average meal costs anywhere between JMD 300–800.
