Kingston Attractions: detailed information about Blue Mountains

Blue Mountains

Rating:

The Blue Mountains that are spread out across the eastern portion of the island contain Jamaica’s highest mountain peak.

Stretching over 28 miles in length, the mountains are surrounded by coffee fields that produce various types of coffee bean for blending.

The ecology of the mountain range is amazing and tough and it shows radical changes as one moves from sea level to fog-shrouded peaks.

The trials and hikes are steep, hot and humid but not very hazardous or frightening.

The outskirts of Kingston lie at the foothills of the Blue Mountains.

The John Crow Mountains, located to the east of the Blue Mountains, features an enormous area of picturesque beauty. Here however, the trails are more overgrown than the well trodden paths of the Blue Mountains.

Dawn breaking in the mountains should be seen and on clear mornings, splendid views of both the north and south coasts stretch out before you.

The mountains reveal their botanical richness on the trip down from the top with the trail passing through a tiny forest of miniature rodwood and soapwood trees.
