King’s House, dated back from late 19th century was the official residence of the governor-general, located in Kingston, Jamaica. This official residence is a prime example of Jamaican Heritage and fine architecture. The prominent feature of the residence is its stately black and gold iron gates, laid out gardens and beautiful lawns. The long drive of about a mile that leads to the house is bordered with the long palm trees. One can also see the treasures of the King’s house such as deluxe bound bible used for swearing-in ceremonies and three silver lamps preserved by the British government. In a grand dining room are kept the enormous portrait paintings of Queen Charlotte and King George III. It is a popular tourist place but one can visit the King’s House only by prior permission. One can also explore many nearby attractions situated close to King’s House including Jamaica House.
