Kingston: Attractions and more...

Kingston is the cultural, industrial and financial centre of Jamaica. It architecture depicts an amazing confluence of history and modernity. Also, various festivals and carnivals are held all year round.

Rockfort, a fortress built in the seventeenth century, the Headquarters House and the Church of Saint Thomas are the few historical structures still left in the city.

Blue Mountains, situated at the northern edge of the city, are an idyllic retreat for those seeking some peace and tranquillity. Hellshire Beach, Gunboat Beach and Fort Clarence are the popular beaches here. Fort Clarence hosts legendary reggae concerts.

The National Gallery of Art, the White Marl Arawak Museum and the Hope Botanical Gardens are the other places of interest that definitely merit a visit.

The major sporting centres here include Sabina Park for international cricket, Caymanas Golf Course, and Buccaneer Club as well as Windward Edge for scuba-diving.
