Lucea is a coastal town and the capital of the parish of Hanover in Jamaica. Hanover was founded in 1723 and Lucea is the main town of this parish. Lucea has a population of 5,739 inhabitants most of which are Blacks and the rest being Latino, Asians, Whites and others. Agriculture is a major economic booster in the region and can be further developed to increase the revenue of this place. Lucea produces a wide variety of vegetables and fruits along with cereals, pulses and flowers. Coffee, sugar, rum, bananas and cocoa are the important exports of the state. Breadfruit is a staple food of Lucea along with yam. The hotel industry gets regular supplies of food grains from this region thus encouraging the growth of tourism in the region. There are several parks, clubs, museums, historical attractions and exclusive resorts adding to development of tourism.
