Tourist Guide Malvern
Malvern is a village in the Saint Elizabeth Parish of Jamaica. This parish, located in the southern region, is the second largest in the island country with a population of approximately 148,000.
Malvern is nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains running across the parish and finally ending into steep cliffs along the Caribbean Sea. On both sides of the mountain ranges are vast plains.
Owing to the altitude, the village enjoys a more temperate climate as compared to the typically hot and humid Jamaican climate. There are frequent spells of rain and fog.
In the seventeenth century, with the plantation of sugarcane and the export of sugar and molasses to parts of Europe, the parish prospered. The parish also bears the distinction of being the first place on the island where power was introduced.
