Mandeville is Manchester’s largest town situated west of Kingston in Middlesex country, Jamaica. According to 2005 census, the population of Mandeville is 50000. The altitude of this city is 628 meters. The town was a gift by the Duke of Manchester to his elder son Viscount Mandeville. As the place is located at the Tower of the Don Finguerero Mountains, it is often referred to as the coolest town of Jamaica. The temperature of Mandeville varies between 30 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. It is featured by green villages, stone-walled meadows and striking stone buildings. The growth of Mandeville was goaded by the formation of Alcan Bauxite which was an alumina mining company. The company was formed in collaboration with the Jamaican government in 1957. The Northern Caribbean University is placed in Mandeville. The city is otherwise known as “English Tow”, as most of its inhabitants are residents from England and America.
