Tourist Guide Morant Bay
The Morant Bay town, which is the capital city of the parish of St.Thomas, is located in southeastern Jamaica. The origin of this city can be traced back to the period of 1865 when the Morant Bay Rebellion took place. It was the only major peasant riot in Jamaican history though it was different from worker uprisings and slave rebellions. The city got its name from the Morant River as the town lies at the mouth of this river. Morant Bay is a resort and shopping point for coffee, copra, bananas, ginger, honey, coconuts, pimiento and rum. Morant Bay is also a sister city to Hartford. The climate of Morant Bay is generally tropical, humid and hot. The time zone of Morant Bay is the Eastern Standard Time. Morant Bay is one of the best places in Jamaica for the tourist to drop in and experience the warmness of the Jamaican town. The city has many interesting eateries and restaurants that offer delicious Jamaican cuisines like Chicken foot soup, Curry Goat, Rice and Peas and Fried Chicken.
