La Fortaleza
La Fortaleza is located in the city of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The monument is also referred to as Palacio de Santa Catalina. It is counted among one of the most popular attractions of the city.
The 40-room mansion was constructed in 1540 and was originally used to defend the city against foreign invaders. The building now serves as an official residence to the governor of the city. It also features lovely gardens that never fail to impress the visitors.
It was declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983. Tourists can opt for guided tours to explore and understand the history of this beautiful mansion.
