The Reichstag is my favourite building in Berlin, I love the combination of glass, steel and mirrors, and it has so many opportunities for photography!

The first time I visited Berlin, the Brandenburger Tor was wrapped up as they were working on it! So I was happy to see the real building this time. They are still working hard in this area, as you can see in the pictures.

This is a photo of the Soviet monument for the second world war, built immediately after the war, in 1945. The other photos are of the Gedachtniskirche. This church was damaged by bombs, and they left the half broken tower in place and built a memorial church around it. The light is very beautiful inside the church.

This is art on some appartment building, I liked it! The other two photos are of the big golden statue, I have forgotten the name :)

I visited the Checkpoint Charlie museum, which is very interesting! It's about how people tried to escape from east to west Berlin, it's amazing how some people managed to escape with a crazy plan! I would have spent more time in this museum, but it was really hot inside plus they have a habit of filling walls with so much text that I couldn't be bothered to read all of it. This is a photo of somebody who escaped in my favourite car, a Volkswagen Beetle.

I really like the area around the Potsdamer Platz. This area was heavily bombed in WOII, and is now filled with modern buildings. This is the Sony Platz, the roof is amazing! In the photo on the right you can see the only old part of the Potsdamer Platz that was left.

Here is another photo taken near the Potsdamer Platz, and two photos of the brand new Holocaust monument. The momument is made of concrete blocks of different heights. Underground, there is a kind of museum about the holocaust. I visited the museum, it was interesting and very impressive.
In the last photo you can also see the balloon in which you can take a ride to get some views from above. The balloon is attached to the ground with a rope.

These photos are taken close to where I was staying (in a hostel). I liked the contrast of the modern tv tower with the old buildings surrounding it.
