The hotel is extremely proud to be classed as a disabled friendly hotel. Crown Lodge has been classified as M3i (suitable for independent wheelchair users) under the National Accessible Scheme. The hotel’s entrance has ramp access and, once inside, there are no steps to the dining room or to either of the 2 ground floor rooms.The ground floor twin room is most suited to guests with restricted walking ability or reduced mobility, as well as those who simply have difficulty with stairs or who would benefit from some support when using the en suite facilities. The en suite shower room is a wet room with conveniently positioned grab bars and a shower seat. However, the ground floor double room has been designed specifically with disabled guests and wheelchair users in mind. The room has been furnished to a high standard, and has an Adjustamatic double bed. The en suite wet room is spacious and fully accessible for wheelchair users. A shower seat and several grab rails are provided to aid mobility.The following items are available on loan, free of charge, if required: manual/self-propelled wheelchair, tri-walker, shower wheelchair, bed guard, bed raisers, toilet seat raisers, cushion for shower seat and intercom system.
The 6 bedrooms have been styled with quality and comfort in mind. There are 4 double bedrooms ( one of which has the potential for an extra bed) on the first floor, and one twin room and one double room on the ground floor. All of the rooms are charming, comfortable and newly refurbished, and are enhanced by a flat screen digital TV/DVD combi.Every room has a fully tiled en-suite shower room with easy-control electric showers and electric shaver points.Please see individual room details for a complete list of the facilities on offer.
Breakfast is included in the quoted room rates and is served between 08:00 and 09:30. You can help yourself to a choice of juices, fruits, cereals and yoghurts and then choose your cooked breakfast according to your appetite on the day, from just eggs, to a full and generous farmhouse breakfast. Whatever you have planned, the tasty breakfast is a great way to start your dayThe bright ground-floor dining room is a charming environment in which to enjoy the breakfast of your choice. Classic, home-cooked English 4-course meals are available at 18:30.
The English Riviera has so many places to visit and so many things to see and do, both in the bay itself and just outside. Whatever your age or interests, there is something for everyone nearby.Torquay harbour has plenty of great restaurants, cafes and bars, and you can also enjoy boat trips for sightseeing or fishing. Torquay town centre has loads of great shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. The town also has a theatre offering a wide variety of shows, plays and concerts. Other sights and attractions in the surrounding area include Kents Cavern, Torre Abbey, Paignton Zoo, the Quay West water park, the historic village of Cockington and numerous attractive beaches and charming, peaceful coves.Just outside the bay is the beautiful national park of Dartmoor, which has its own special attractions, such as Becky Falls and Haytor, as well as many more picturesque landmarks.
By Car (from the M5 motorway and Exeter):- At the end of the M5 motorway, continue onto the A38. - After approximately 3 miles (5 km), fork left onto the A380, following the signs towards Torquay.- Stay on the A380 through the outskirts of Newton Abbott and through the village of Kingskerswell, until you reach the roundabout at the start of the A3022, after approximately 12.5 miles (20 km).- Follow the A3022, Riviera Way, straight on, through all of the traffic lights, for approximately 1.5 miles (2.5 km), until you can see Torre train station and the Halfords shop on the right.- Move into the right-hand lane for the approaching set of traffic lights.- Fork right (following the signs for Paignton, Brixham and the seafront). This is Avenue Road. Crown Lodge is on the left-hand side, about 220 yards (200 metres) further down this road.
Crown Lodge provides highly recommended B&B accommodation less than 1 mile from Torquay’s centre and harbour area, where there are cafes, restaurants and bars.The well-presented property has recently been refurbished.
