The Brickwall Hotel stands overlooking the village green in the pretty East Sussex village of Sedlescombe. Originally built in 1597 for the local ironmaster, the hotel combines a touch of Tudor times with all the amenities expected by modern standards. Offering a pleasant atmosphere, the Brickwall Hotel has many local beauty spots within easy reach. Guests at the Brickwall can expect to receive a warm welcome from experienced staff. The hotel has a spacious residents' lounge, an oak panelled lounge bar and beautiful beamed dining room. Particular attention is paid to the quality and variety of food served in the dining room, with local produce being used whenever possible. Complementing the cuisine is a well stocked wine cellar. In an attractive setting in the garden, the heated swimming pool is open from May to September.
We have a variety of rooms including junior suites, four-poster rooms, double/twin rooms and single rooms. There is an extra charge of GBP 10 per person per night for our junior suites and four-poster rooms. Four-poster rooms and junior suites are subject to availability; please contact the hotel direct after making your booking if you would like to upgrade your room type.The junior suites have a separate lounge area, and are also used as family rooms. They are large enough for a family of 4. There is an additional charge of GBP 29.90 per child, which is inclusive of bed, breakfast and taxes. There is no charge for cots. Some of our double rooms are also large enough for a family of 4. All rooms are en suite and are equipped with standard facilities.
A Tudor style restaurant with beams throughout offering a very warm atmosphere. We have two very experienced chefs, who have been with us for 17 years. We have extensive table d'hote menu, using fresh local produce. We offer silver service by experienced Italian Waiters.
The Aldershaw golf course is approximately 1 km (1/2 mile) away, where we have arranged favourable fees for hotel guests. The village of Sedlescombe is a focal point in an area of great beauty and interest. Nearby are the picturesque seaside towns of Rye and Winchelsea, whilst within an easy drive are the holiday centres of Hastings, Eastbourne and Brighton. Reminders of the historic significance of the Sussex Weald are close at hand, with such famous landmarks at Battle Abbey, Bodiam Castle and Pevensey Castle.
By car:From London: - take M25 - continue onto the A21 - continue towards Hastings on the A21 (ignore the sign on the right to Battle) - Shortly afterwards, take the left hand turn signposted to Sedlescombe - continue driving up the hill and there in front of you, over looking the village green, is the Brickwall Hotel.
