Originally known as The Nightingale House, the lodge played an essential role in Britain's medical advances during the 18th century and the historic plaque in front of the building commemorates Florence Nightingale's work. Other publicly listed features include the picturesque stained-glass window at the top of the main staircase, which overlooks the reception area, where you can find Florence Nightingale's own original bookcase from her time in the city.

The A5039 turns slightly left and becomes B5175/Princes Road. - Turn left at Upper Hampton Street.
