    Description Dornoch Castle Hotel

Renowned for the best in Scottish hospitality, with a dramatic backdrop of the quaint Market Square in Dornoch, the castle offers a cosy and personable stay. With such a unique setting, the hotel is the ideal venue for special occasions. A wedding organiser is at hand to assist with every detail of the day – from the meal, drinks and entertainment to the flowers, place cards and hairdresser. Recommendations are in place for local suppliers for all needs and even some not so local. The hotel can seat up to 90 guests in the pretty, glass-fronted Garden Restaurant for the meal. When the weather is fine, drinks may be taken in the walled garden on the pristine lawn. Guests can lounge at leisure while the bridal party and photographer take full advantage of the lovely gardens and the old, stone terrace.

All 24 en suite bedrooms are tastefully decorated with a strong emphasis on comfort and tranquillity, yet still maintaining a traditional Baronial home atmosphere. There are deluxe castle rooms, superior castle rooms and garden rooms, the latter were built in the late 70’s and form the easterly wing of the castle. The hotel has undergone some major refurbishment recently and there are many rooms of individual character. Most rooms overlook the formal walled gardens and some have wonderful views of the Dornoch Firth and the hills beyond. There are two rooms which have views of Dornoch Cathedral.

Dornoch Castle has a growing reputation in Dornoch and further afield, and The Garden Restaurant is now recognised as one of the premier dining venues of the area and has retained Rosette status for the past 3 years. The head chef prides himself in using local Scottish Highland produce and there are always Scottish seafood dishes on the menu, as well as Aberdeen Angus beef, Highland venison and lamb. The à la carte menu is served in the elegant candle-lit Garden Restaurant overlooking the walled gardens, or for a more informal meal, you can enjoy dinner in front of the roaring log fire. Still maintaining its 15th century stone walls and wooden floors, the restaurant has been transformed into a comfortable bar and reception.
