The Peveril of the Peak Hotel takes its unusual name from a historic novel by Sir Walter Scott.Due to the hotel’s location on the hillside, there are no rooms available on the ground floor. From reception, access to the bedrooms is down a small set of stairs with 5 steps. The hotel does not currently have any rooms suitable for disabled guests or wheelchair users.

With the towering limestone hill of Thorpe Cloud as a backdrop and Thorpe pastures on one side, the hotel has numerous footpaths and trails passing through its grounds, along with the famous stepping stones on the River Dove, on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire border. Chatsworth House, the Heights of Abraham and Carsington Water are also all within easy reach.The cities of Derby, Nottingham, Sheffield, Lichfield and Birmingham are all just a short drive away, so you can explore Derby Cathedral and some of the city’s many museums or visit historic Nottingham Castle and tour Robin Hood country. Alternatively, both cities offer great shopping for all ages.
