Romantik Hotel Castello Seeschloss in Ascona 

The Romantik Hotel Castello Seeschloss consists of three separate buildings grouped around a lush Mediterranean garden and open-air swimming pool (heated from mid/end April to beginning/end October 24°/25° C).The main building and the two towers date back to the 13th century and have a romantic castle atmosphere. The two newer buildings house cosy standard and superior type rooms. The hotel's public area and the restaurants are partly accessible for disabled persons. Due to the historical nature of the hotel (many steps and narrow doors) wheelchair access to the rooms is not possible.

The rooms at the hotel range from cosy standard-type rooms to larger superior-type rooms and rooms in the medieval tower section, some with wall-paintings and/or mosaic floors. Some rooms have balconies and some are equipped with air conditioning. All the rooms are non-smoking rooms. It is still possible to smoke on the balconies, if available, and in all open spaces on the hotel grounds. Standard and superior type rooms are without lake-view. Most of the castle rooms, the rooms in the medieval tower section and the junior suite in the tower by the pool have a lake-view.Please note, that due to the large variety of different rooms, it is not always possible to promise a specific room within a category for short stays. The hotel will try to comply with guests' wishes where possible.

The Romantik Hotel Castello Seeschloss offers a selection of local, international and Mediterranean dishes, all freshly and lovingly prepared by our the kitchen staff. The breakfast-buffet is served in the Castello dining room from 07:00 to 11:00. In the summer it is also possible to have breakfast in the warm morning sun on the terrace overlooking the garden. In the Restaurant Locanda de Ghiriglioni we offer a selection of à la carte dishes and gourmet menus for dinner accompanied by fine wines from our cellar. Dinner is served from 18:30 to 22:00. In the Castello dining room a three-course half-board dinner with choice from our daily culinary offer is served from 19:00 to 21:00.In summer, weather permitting, all our meals are served outside on our palm terrace overlooking the Piazza of Ascona and the Lago Maggiore. During the warmer months, a nice spot for lunch, coffee or dinner is our pavilion in the garden by the lake, protected by secular trees and with a splendid, unobstructed view of the Lago Maggiore and the Brissago Islands. Here we offer a range of delicious dishes, warm and cold snacks, cakes and ice-creams, served from 12:00 to 22:00. For lunch (12:00 to 15:00) and dinner (18:00 to 22:00) we serve à la carte meals and seasonal specialities.Especially at the beginning of season (March) and end of season (mid-October and beginning of November), depending on the number of guests, we reserve the right to keep one or the other restaurant closed.

Ascona is an ideal starting point for boat trips on the Lago Maggiore, with sights such as the botanical garden "Isole di Brissago" or the Borromean Islands. Almost every day there is an Italian market in one of the towns bordering the lake. Valleys, located around and not far from Ascona, are accessible by car or public transport and offer an ideal starting point for walks and hikes through the forests or along the rivers. The Lido of Ascona offers a protected and organized environment for a bathing day by the lake. The more adventurous guests will find beautiful wild beaches and interesting bathing spots along the rivers Maggia and Verzasca. Please remember that the rivers can be dangerous and always ask for local advice.Only thirty minutes from Ascona you can enjoy roller coaster rides down the slopes of Monte Tamaro or the Forest Adventure Parks in the woods of Monte Tamaro and Gordola.

The hotel is located on the pedestrian lake-side promenade of Ascona, only 300 metres from the town centre and public transport facilities.The hotel and all the non-smoking rooms have been equipped with modern amenities to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Parking is available on the hotel grounds.The Romantik Hotel Castello Seeschloss is open from March to November, over the winter months the hotel remains closed.

Please note that a reservation is needed for a space at our hotel garage which is available at an additional cost.There are also car park spaces at the hotel where no reservation is needed.
