Butrint (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) near Saranda is Albania’s largest archaeological site from the Roman era. It includes a Roman theatre and a baptistery. Gjirokaster, the museum city built in the fifteenth century with characteristic castles and houses is an hour-and-a-half’s drive from Saranda.
