Vlore: Attractions and more...
Vlore has had its brush with history, and this is evident in the number of historical monuments here. The Mosque of Muradie, built in 1542, is resplendent with architectural beauty; it has now been converted into a museum.
The Museum of Independence is witness to the Albanians’ arduous struggle for freedom and the events associated with this movement.
There is also the pentagon-shaped town fortress, built in 1531 with walls adapted for artillery fire. In the town centre is the bronze monument of independence, unveiled in 1972, depicting distinguished figures from the Albanian independence movement.
A city known for its hospitality, Vlore is one of the most beautiful places in the entire Mediterranean region. Surrounded by palm trees, it is a pleasant place in which to relax while admiring the stunning view over the Bay of Vlore.
