Zell Am See, located on the Zeller See Lake, is surrounded by the spectacular Schmittenhohe Mountains. With its ideal location and scenic beauty, Zell Am See is one of the most popular Austrian winter resorts.
The city with its wide range of ski runs and lifts is a true ski paradise. The city is also home to a number of exotic buildings and monuments, the most popular being the St. Hippolyte’s Church which houses the ruins of the Pinzgau.
The neighbouring village of Kaprun is another popular location known for its glacier, a twelfth century Roman castle and its water reservoirs. Some of the other popular attractions are the Vogtturm Homeland Museum, Hetzhaust Museum and Klamm Lake.
The city also provides a number of summer activities like swimming, hockey, paragliding and ballooning. The city also hosts a number of festivals and events; some of the most popular ones being the Lake Festival and Zeller Edelweisen Festival.
