Austria was home to musical geniuses like Beethoven and Mozart. This musical heritage has resulted in plenty of summer festivals for all genres of music, the most famous being the Salzburg Festival.
Winter is one of the most enjoyable seasons of Austria. From the end of November to the beginning of Christmas festivities, one can find ‘Christkindlmärkte’ throughout cities like Vienna. The New Year’s concert ‘Neujahrskonzert’ is played by the famed Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Viennale Film Festival is a major event that usually takes place in the last few months of the year, while the Wiener Festival between May and June treats guests to theatre, dance and music by world famous artists. Also in May is the Vienna City ‘sightseeing’ Marathon that stretches for around 42 km around the capital city.
