Graz is situated in the South of Austria and is the capital of the Steiermark
(Styria) Province. It lays on the Mur River and is bordered by the Alps on three
sides. Graz is the second biggest city in Austria after Vienna.

and fruit.
The old part of the city is connected with the new town by seven bridges. The
old part of the city is build around the Schlossberg Park, which was a strongly

The city’s name has its origin from the Slavic world “gradec”
which means “small fort” and is referred to the fortress that once
stood on top of the Schlossberg.
