Graz being the second largest city of Austria is also one of the best preserved old cities of Europe.
On the northern borders of the city, near the Mur Valley, there are the Gosting Ruins; the remains of a castle constructed between the 11th and the 15th centuries.
This is a very scenic location and a good spot to bask in the beautiful view one gets of Graz from here.
Erected by Duke Hans Ullrich Von Eggenberg in 1625, as a representative building, the Schloss Eggenberg is the largest castle in Steiermark.
The rooms of the castle are very artistic with astonishing paintings all over the ceilings.
The castle boasts a renowned hunting museum and a rococo garden. One can see deer and peacocks in the grounds.
The castle has four corner towers and 365 windows; this is to signify the four different kinds of winds and the number of days in a year.
