Graz is a typical example of an European urban center which has been characterized by the Hadsburg rule through centuries.
The city of Graz served to be a crossroad for centuries for the neighbouring regions and its historic center has the influence of the artistic and architectural movements originating from the Germanic region, the Balkans and Mediterranean. The greatest architects and artists of these region seem to have expressed themselves here and there is a typical building representing each age.
