The ancient little mountain town of Schladming lies in the Styria area of Austria. The town lies in the upper Enns Valley, between the Dachstein in the north and the Schladminger Tauern in the south.
Established as a popular tourist resort, the city particularly attracts ski lovers from across the world due to its reliable snow record and impressive snow-making system. With a population of around 5,000 inhabitants, February to mid-March make for the best time to visit.
The history of the town dates back to almost 600 years ago and is exhibited in the old Gothic styled buildings and structures. The economy of the town was primarily supported by the mining industry during the Middle Ages, owing to its rich deposits of silver, copper and lead.
