The town’s two mountains, Planai and Hochwurzen offer some of the longest uninterrupted ski runs in Europe. The place boasts of exciting skiing on the Dachstein Glacier, the challenge of the fastest World Cup downhill and wide beginner and intermediate runs through thick pine forests. Other activities include skating and curling, paragliding, ballooning, cycling and hiking.
The Late Gothic Parish Church, a memorial stone in the Unterer Stadtplatz commemorating the Peasant War of 1525, and the Municipal Museum are the significant historic sights of the town.
Schladming also offers a host of other recreational options such as shopping malls, bars and discos and various multi-cuisine restaurants. The quaint alleyways and streets lining the town entice the visitor to explore the place through leisurely afternoon strolls.
