Vienna has long been known for its electronic scene, with world renowned clubs like Danube Canal and Flex and more recently, in the Prater area, with newer arrivals Pratersauna and Fluc. But the music scene here can boast a lot greater depth than it is often appreciated.
For instance Arena offers a wide range of genres in a great auditorium, whilst Porgy and Bess is a Jazz venue of some repute.
Undisputedly the hottest new area of Viennese night life is the Gurtel. Nestled in the arches beneath the U-Bahn, clubs like B72, Rhiz and Chelsea are great examples of the new and wider musical agenda.
The two must visit places in Vienna are the iconic old jazz club Jazzland and what is known as “a small musical travel agency”, the Ost club, which offers itself as a cultural hub between East and West.
