The museum present the largest collection of material about the culture of the Belarusian people from the ancient times to our days.
The National Museum of Culture and History of Belarus is situated at Francisk Skorina Avenue, 25 and is open from 10 to 5 daily except on Mondays.
The museum which started in 1957 was known to give information about the local lore, economy and history. However, the museum was later given the status of a National museum in 1991 and has the largest collection of monuments and cultural artifacts from ancient times to the present.
The special collections include ancient work of art, agricultural instruments, manuscripts, Belarusian folk costumes, collection of numismatics and more.
One can view a model of a Nazi concentration camp at the museum as well as an interesting division showcasing the Belarusian resistance movement. Surely not one for the faint hearted.
