One can visit the Grote Market which is a large market square and the St. Rumbold’s Cathedral. The Jewish Museum of Deportation and the resistance and the animal park Planckendael in Muizen are some of the places of interest.

The city is home to the oldest Belgian football clubs, the KV Machelen and Racing Mechelen, which were founded in 1904. One can watch the match which is quite interesting to see. This city is famous for Mechlin lace, which one can purchase from provided shops known explicitly for sale of such laces.
