Namur is a beautiful town and provides an array of recreational options to the visitor. There are the fortified citadels for history lovers and numerous churches and abbeys for those with a penchant for religion and tradition. Sports lovers can indulge in water skiing, wind surfing and canoeing down the waters of the two rivers as well as enjoy the mountain biking, golfing and rock climbing.
Namur has a distinctive eighteenth century cathedral dedicated to Saint Aubain and a belfry classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Located on the banks of the Sambre, The Meat Hall, constructed in the sixteenth century, is an important archaeological structure of Wallonia.
A glorious collection of religious artefacts, created by the goldsmiths and artisans of the Meuse Valley is housed in the convent of the Sisters of Notre Dame. The Archaeological Museum, The Museum of Ancient Arts of Namur and Groesbeeck de Croix Museum are also worth a visit.
