Warnings in Antwerp

Do not venture out in the streets late at night especially in the Statiestraat area near the central train station, the parks, the Coninckplein and beware of pickpockets at all times.

If there are any warnings about stormy weather or violent storms do not take it lightly and avoid travelling outdoors or near the beaches as they can get flooded within minutes.

The direction and speed of tidal currents is treacherous at such times. Stay away from empty streets at night and avoid flashing jewellery or other expensive items. Be practical about keeping an eye on your belongings and documents just as you would while visiting any foreign land.

North Africans and Muslims might experience an attitude of hostility as this is an acute problem in Antwerp and Brussels.
