The BELvue museum is one that is dedicated to Belgium’s political history and democracy.   The three main components of the BELvue museum are the permanent parcours and displays, the temporary exhibitions, and the educational activities it offers to youngsters and future teachers about Belgium’s history and democratic landscape.

The permanent parcours and displays can be seen in a series of nine different rooms that highlight the main periods of Belgium’s history, including the times of various Kings and Queens.  They also showcase a variety of objects, including documents, photos, film extracts, and artifacts that illustrate the state of democracy during the specific time period.

Throughout the year, the museum organizes several temporary exhibitions that also pertain to democracy and cultural heritage.  One good example of this was a 2009 exhibit that explored the status quo of Belgium’s gender roles throughout the 19th and 20th centuries called Boy or Girl, destiny for a lifetime?

BELvue’s educational programs aim for youngsters and future teachers to become acquainted with Belgium’s political framework through interactive activities such as discussions with members of the European Parliament. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 10 am to 5 pm, and 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
