The Brussels Museum of Modern Art is the premier place to admire Belgian and foreign artwork from the 19th and 20th centuries.  Located in Place Royale, the museum is a non-profit organization that started with 15 original curators.

The museum has several displays that take viewers through Belgium’s artistic timeline, each piece speaking to the time in which it was created. From Impressionism and Surrealism to Fauvism and Contemporary, Brussels’ Museum of Modern Art is sure to have a collection of it. While its exhibits have an abundance of paintings, the museum also features several Neo-classical sculptures and drawings. Exhibited artists include Jacques-Louis David, Eugène Delacroix, Antoine Wiertz, and Gustave Courbet.

As an official component of the Brussels Museum Council, the Museum of Modern Art also hosts special events throughout the year. One of which is Museum Night Fever, an annual event that hosts live music, games, fashion shows, dances, and performances. Another good one to put on your calendar is one of the museum’s late-evening openings in the winter, when the museum continues to operate between 5 pm and 10 pm, and has various special activities to take part in. General admission is €2 to €5 depending on age, and the first Wednesday of the month is free starting at 1 pm!
