Located in the Jette municipality of Brussels, Belgium, Dieleghem is an area named after a former abbey that was founded in the early 12th century. The parish was originally established by the Bishop of Cambrai and managed by the Augustinian canons. Throughout the 1300’s, Dieleghem was an important place for politics and the economy until it was despoiled by the French Revolution.
The Dieleghem neighborhood of Jette is a relatively quiet residential area, mostly home to Belgian families. However, the people of the area are known for their passion toward improving the beauty and sustainability of their surroundings. Dieleghem residents have worked extensively to redevelop the streets, squares, buildings, and homes. The area is also beautiful because if its well-groomed gardens and foliage.
With several parks and recreational areas, the neighborhood has been called the green oasis of Brussels. Located across the street from the famous abbey is Château de Dieleghem, a large mansion with a grand estate and many tall beautiful trees that are native to the area. If you're thinking about raising a family in Brussels, consider moving to Dieleghem.
