Tourist Guide La Louvière
The true origin of the city dates back to the 12th century. In the 19th century the city had roads, canals and even railways. La Louvière surpassed its overlord Saint-Vaast in population and economic wealth. At present, this city is still the 5fth largest city in Wallonia after Mons, Narmur, Liege and Charleroi.
La Louviere had a total population of 76,784 in 2004 census. This was divided with 36,966 males and 39,818 females. The total area of the city is 64.16 square kilometers and gives a population density of 1,196.74 inhabitants per square kilometers.
