The National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina lies in the center of Sarajevo city in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The museum was opened in 1888. This is one of the oldest museums of this nation.
The museum serves as the institute of science and culture. Several sections in the museum cover various fields like natural history, cultural history, geography, ethnology, art history and archaeology.
The museum is located at the Zmaja od Bosne 3 in Sarajevo. The archeological department exhibits the documentation and artifacts dating back to prehistorically, ancient and medieval times.
The Natural History section displays the geological and botanical aspects of this city and surrounding area. The tourists can also see the zoological and botanical treasures of Sarajevo in this museum.
Check out the specimens of butterflies in the museum. Visitors can know more about the flora, fauna, folklores and mineralogy of the surrounding area from the various sections of the library. The museum remains open from 10 am to 5 pm from Tuesday to Friday.
