For tourists visiting the city there are a number of options of public transport including buses, trams, taxies, underground transport and trolleys. You can even rent a car to visit various parts of the city.
Taxis are available at the parking zones in front of the Central railway station, Sofia airport and at the Central bus station. Make sure that you take a taxi marked as O.K. Taxi or Yes Taxi or S.M. Taxi to ensure reliability. Prices are about 0.50 BGN per km.
Mini buses within the city travel on mapped routes but do not have fixed stops. There is no water transport available in Sofia.
The taxis in the city called marshrutki have a capacity of carrying about twelve people. There are more than fifteen thousand licensed taxis operating in Sofia city and one has to be careful to see that one is not overcharged.
