The Ethnographic Museum is located in the capital city of Bulgaria, Sofia. The museum was opened as one section of the National Museum in 1892. However, it became independent in 1906.
The museum is located at 1A Battenberg Square in Sofia. This is one of the famous museums amongst the three big museums in Sofia. Currently the museum is housed in the Royal Palace in Sofia.
Visitors can see an astonishing collection of musical instruments, jewelry, embroidery, fabrics, costumes and crafts made by the Bulgarian people. The museum has a huge collection of more than 50, 000 artifacts.
These objects belong to the era from the 17th to 20th century. The medieval costumes collected in the museum are the "must - see" section. The artifacts and artistic items in the museum exhibit the culture and heritage of Bulgaria.
The museum remains open from 10 am to 5 pm in summers and from 11 am to 4 pm in winters.
