Varna has a rich cultural scene with several museums and art galleries, including the Naval Museum and the History of Varna Museum. Little historical architecture remains and a large section of the city’s western part is overrun by gypsies.
The festival calendar thrives during the summer and includes Navy Day in August, an international film festival called Love is Folly in September and a puppet theatre festival called The Gold Dolphin in October.
One of the most expensive restaurants is an Indian restaurant, the Maharany. Popular budget restaurants in the residential section include the Chuchura Restaurant and the Old Varna Restaurant.
When travelling by taxi, be sure not to agree with the first price that the driver asks for. Never take taxis from in front of hotels are they are the most expensive.
