Velingrad was once three villages that were united in 1948. Lajen, Chepino and Kamenitsa are the three districts, each with its own downtown area and parks.
The city is not known for anything other than therapeutic relaxation. It is dotted with hotels and pubs and even the smallest hotel boasts its own mineral pool.
Spa treatment is popular here and visitors can indulge in massages and aromatherapy baths. Jacuzzis and local therapeutists are a common sight treating everything from skin, respiratory and movement problems.
The city offers reprieve for those not interested in pool relaxation in the form of forest hiking trails and fishing spots. Those learning to ski will find the gentle slopes and amazing scenery completely to their liking.
