Croatia is a land of eight National Parks. Its thirteen centuries of history has given rise to various monuments and sites, six of which are now World Heritage Sites. One of these is the Palace of Diocletian in Split. Built using Roman designs, the palace has walls more than 25 m high.

The Arena of Pula was built in the first century and can accommodate up to 25,000 people. It is now adapted for use in ceremonies and theatre productions. In the Istria Peninsula, one can find the Euphrasian Basilica which is adorned with sixth century Byzantine mosaic works.

The Krka National Park has the Skradin Waterfalls and an island monastery that can be reached by boat. Europe’s oldest pharmacy can be visited at the Franciscan Monastery in Dubrovnik. The city also houses a cathedral and the sixteenth century Rector’s Palace.

Also tour the impressive Cathedral of St James in Šibenik city and the historical city of Trogir, both of which are World Heritage Sites.
